This pack contains one and a half weeks worth of planning that focuses on the teaching of pattern poetry. This planning is aimed at KS1 Year 2 but could be adapted.
Please remember that this planning (and any adaptions) should not be shared.
This pack contains English Planning that focuses on analysing, planning and writing Animal Non-Chronological Reports. This planning is suitable for and has been used within Year 2/3 and contains planning, some resources and differentiation.
This Year 2 phonics plan covers the letters/sounds 's', 'es', 'ing', 'er', 'ed' and 'y'. This pack includes the phonics plan covering four days and the accompanying notebook files.
These can be used with KS3 and some lower ability KS4 to consolidate what they should already know from KS2. The pupils complete the homework and each lesson they will complete a spelling test and then spend time peer marking the completed homework and consolidating the skills they are still struggling with from a variety of worksheets.
Each homework pack consists of different task/learning/activities, including:
Plural and singular/homophones/past, present, future tense. Each section is formatted the same with a spelling test, dictionary and vocabulary work and comprehension - some include extended writing.
Some sections of text from the list with comprehension: Pride and Prejudice/Wuthering Heights/Never Let Me Go. There are also some grammar exercises on the following: Semicolons/Apostrophes/Past, present, plural and singular and plural verbs.
Revisiting the idea of sentence structure and the effect of different types of sentences. It also addresses some ideas behind metalanguage and using this to understand feedback and improve work. Looking at literally and figuratively. Briefly exploring the world of idioms and how we can use this figurative language to unpick analysis. I have also included a section on how to write a PEARL paragraph - some may use PEE and PEA. Point, Evidence, Analysis, Reader Response and Link / Language (choosing a secondary quote or linking it to social and historical context). There are sections from Harry potter and Alice in Wonderland for comprehension and analysis. Also included the next round of alphabet synonyms.
It includes a section revising apostrophes, specifically looking at contractions and omitted letters. More metalanguage. Prepositions. 2 x extracts and comprehension questions on Pole 2 Pole by Michael Palin. A section on voice - active and passive and 1st/2nd/3rd person in storytelling. There are also the usual suspects - spelling lists, dictionary tasks, self-assessment and extended writing.
Here is a Year 5 English plan (2 Weeks) that focuses writing 'Non-Chronological Reports' about the city of London. This would be ideal for a class with the topic of 'Big Cities' and 'London'.
This folder contains a Literacy game suitable for use with Higher KS2/KS3/KS4 classes. The game is based on Pointless! the popular TV gameshow. The questions are based various English/Literacy areas including: Homophones, Terminology, Famous literary faces, etc.
